Octagon Research Solutions, Inc. Barry Cohen, President,
Barry Cohen is an application developer with 15+ years experience in the pharmaceutical clinical trials industry. Barry is presently Director of the Clinical Data Strategies group at Octagon Research Solutions, Inc. In this role, Barry focuses on the conversion of clinical trials data to the CDISC SDTM, development of clinical data warehouses based upon the standard, and strategic uses of this data beyond its submission to the FDA. Barry is a co-founder and current President of the Philadelphia SAS User Group. He is also one of the founding members of the Delaware Valley CDISC User Network.

Ellen Asam is an Associate Director of Statistical Computing in the Biostatistics Department at Merck & Co. with 16 years experience with SAS software supporting the collection, analysis and reporting of clinical data. Ellen holds an M.S. in Computer Science from Villanova University.

Jonas V. Bilenas
Jonas V. Bilenas, Vice President of Acquisition Targeting at JP Morgan Chase Bank, develops SAS applications for consumer credit card industry with a focus on credit risk management, credit scoring, forecasting, experimental design, price simulation and optimization. A SAS user since 1986, he has extensive experience using Base SAS software and applying FORMAT and TABULATE procedures and the DATA step. Prior to his position at Chase, he has also worked at Citigroup and American Express. He is a frequent presenter at local SAS user groups and at NorthEast SAS User Group (NESUG) Conferences. He has published the text, The Power of PROC FORMAT with SAS Press and is currently working on another title, SAS Applications in the Credit Industry.

Michael Davis is a Senior SAS Analyst with Health Market Science, Inc. Prior to joining HMS, Michael worked for Aetna, Inc., Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Connecticut, the Connecticut Hospital Association, and was an independent consultant. Michael has been a SAS user since 1985 and has specialized in developing decision support, web-enabled applications, and data warehousing systems. He has frequently presented papers at SUGI/SGF, NESUG, and local SAS user groups. Michael holds a Masters in Health Administration from Duke University. Recently updated entry

Quaker Chemical Corporation John Dennis
John is the Sr. Business Applications Developer for Quaker Chemical Corporation, a global specialty chemical company. His systems are being used all over the world. His programming specialties include SAS, Microsoft Access, and most recently Java and Java Server Pages. In 1998 he was part of the project team that resulted in Quaker being awarded the SAS Enterprise Computing Award. Prior to 1996 John held a wide variety of management positions in the accounting areas of the US subsidiary of a major industrial gas company. A graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University, John also donates time to various non-profit organizations in the Philadelphia region.

Lee, a Statistical Programmer at IMS Health in Plymouth Meeting, where he provides SAS programming support for the next generation prescriber level estimation. Lee has over 6 years experience working with SAS in both the financial systems and Pharmaceutical Industry.

Diane Foose is a Principal Programmer/Analyst with GlaxoSmithkline. She has over 14 years experience with SAS and over 20 years in the Pharmaceutical Industry.

Timothy Kelly is Director, Programming at Applied Clinical Intelligence LLC, a CRO located in Bala Cynwyd, Philadelphia. Tim participates and presents at various local and regional SAS conferences and has over 9 years programming experience with 7 in the pharmaceutical industry.

Jessica Lam is a SAS programming consultant, currently on assignment at Wyeth - Collegeville. She has over six years experience working with SAS in the pharmaceutical industry.

Karin LaPann
Karin LaPann 's career began in the academic environment, managing and analyzing data for academic medical studies at University of Pennsylvania, followed by Temple University. Both efforts culminated with published papers in medical journals. Karin has over 20 years programming in SAS and over 6 years in the pharmaceutical industry. She is currently a SAS clinical programmer at Viropharma Incorporated, in Exton, PA. Karin earned an MSIS from Drexel University, College of Information Science and Technology in June 2001.

Russell Lavery
Russell is an independent contractor specializing in using SAS and Statistics to solve business problems. He has used SAS for over fifteen years in a variety if industries.
Robert Nicol
Aetna US Healthcare Mr. Nicol is the SAS lead for mid-range platforms at Aetna. His responsibilities cover the gauntlet from hardware and software configuration, capacity planning, environmental interfaces, training, systems development, to consulting with individuals. Through his efforts to develop a comprehensive computing environment, Aetna has migrated the bulk of its analytic work to a SAS / UNIX centric arena. Currently the environment spans three linked machines containing 16 CPUs and approximately 3.5 terabytes of storage which serves over 190 individuals across North America.

As both an employee and consultant, his 25 + years of experience with the SAS System span a wide variety of industries including Health Care, Utilities, Manufacturing, Human Resources, Petro-Chemical and non-profits. He has effectively capitalized on business opportunities by developing solutions ranging from data collection/dissemination and fundamental reporting to multi-platform applications running on MS Windows, Z/OS and UNIX operating systems. By drawing on his wide experience from manufacturing process control through determining the efficacy of health care, Mr. Nicol now concentrates on helping others solve their analytic challenges.

Randy Noga is a Project Manager in Decision Support Systems (DSS) at Automated Financial Systems (AFS) in Exton, PA. Randy holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Villanova University, and has extensive experience managing information technology development efforts, computing infrastructure management, and program management office initiatives. Prior to joining AFS, Randy has worked for Merrill Lynch, Student Finance Group, General Motors, Law School Administration Council, MBNA, PHH Corporation, and Honeywell.

Terek Peterson,
Shire Terek Peterson is the Manager of Statistical Programming at Shire. He has over 13 years of programming and systems development experience, including over 9 years of those in the Pharmaceutical Industry using SAS software. Terek received his MBA from Rutger's in 1995 and is a graduate of the Philadelphia University's clinical SAS programming certificate program. Terek has presented several papers over the past 6 years at PharmaSUG, NESUG, and PhilaSUG.

Robert Schechter, currently working for Octagon Research Solutions, Inc. as a Senior SAS Programmer, has had forty years of experience in data processing and has been working with SAS since 1972, both as a programmer and a teacher. He currently serves as web master for PhilaSUG, and he is a member of the group's executive committee.

Donna Usavage
Donna Usavage is an Associate Director of Statistical Computing in the Biostatistics Department at Merck & Co. She has 19 years experience in systems development including 15 years with SAS software supporting the collection, analysis and reporting of clinical data. Donna holds an M.S. in Computer Science from Villanova University.
